Arkansas has long ranked among the worst states in the country for maternal health outcomes, with one of the highest maternal mortality rates nationwide.
Since 2023, The Peacock Group has helped to lead a statewide public affairs and media relations campaign to address this maternal health crisis in Arkansas, driving one of the most significant public health policy wins in state history.
Through a research-driven strategy combining media relations, legislative engagement and coalition storytelling, our team built sustained, bipartisan momentum around maternal health reform. We secured more than 2,300 media placements across state and national outlets, reaching an audience of more than 21 billion.
By elevating the voices of physicians, policymakers, mothers and advocates, the campaign helped move the conversation from awareness to action. The result was the passage of the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act, a comprehensive legislative package expanding access to care, including Medicaid coverage for doulas and increased support for providers across Arkansas.
This work earned top honors in both Public Affairs and Media Relations at the Arkansas PRSA PRISM Awards, and it demonstrates the power of strategic communications to drive meaningful, statewide impact in both public opinion and policy.
