Content Marketing & Brand Development

Land of Steel | Mississippi County, AR

For decades, Mississippi County, Arkansas, was defined by loss: population decline, shuttered industry and a reputation that kept even its own workforce from calling it home. At one point, 25% of residents had left, and even as billions in steel investment and thousands of jobs arrived, perception lagged behind reality.

Awareness already existed. The challenge was belief.

In partnership with Mississippi County and creative partner Cranford Co., The Peacock Group set out to build a cohesive, owned brand that could reintroduce the county to itself and to the outside world. That brand became Land of Steel, a platform designed to reshape identity, build local pride and influence long-term growth.

From the ground up, we developed a fully integrated content ecosystem anchored by LandofSteel.com, social channels and long-form storytelling. Through initiatives like “Meet the Neighbors,” video and blog content and targeted digital campaigns, we translated economic momentum into human stories that reflected real people building careers, families and futures in the county.

Flagship content like the Land of Steel Growth Report, developed with Arkansas Business Publishing Group, strengthened credibility and expanded reach, positioning the County as a serious player in American industry and continuing to reinforce its evolving narrative. The report and supporting content highlighted more than $8 billion in investment, nearly 9,000 jobs and the county’s emergence as the largest steel-producing region in the country.

This work has not been a single campaign. It is a sustained brand effort focused on rebuilding perception through consistent storytelling and strategic distribution. Over time, the narrative shifted. A place long associated with decline has begun to be seen as one with momentum and opportunity.

By aligning content, media and community voices under one brand platform, Land of Steel helped Mississippi County move from overlooked to considered and increasingly, chosen.

In 2024, two aspects of this work were recognized with Arkansas PRSA PRISM awards, and in 2025, the Land of Steel Growth Report was also honored with a PRISM.
